Notes: If the air conditioner has been powered off for more than 12 hours: when starting the air conditioner, the crankcase heater must be powered on for preheating. The preheating time should be at least 1 hour for every kilogram of refrigerant charged into the system. The purpose is to evaporate the liquid refrigerant mixed in the refrigerant oil in the crankcase to avoid the compressor sucking in liquid refrigerant, which can cause hydraulic compression.
Connection and evacuation of the pressure gauge; position of the thermometer sensing head;
Clamp ammeter to measure the current of the compressor; scale to weigh the refrigerant before charging.
Insufficient refrigerant charge: cooling capacity decreases, input power decreases, EER decreases, equipment lifespan shortens.
Excessive refrigerant charge: cooling capacity decreases, input power increases, EER decreases, equipment lifespan shortens.
Correct charging: has the most suitable cooling capacity, maximum possible EER (BTU/W), extended equipment lifespan.
When the system refrigerant is below 65% of the normal charge, the suction pressure, return pipe overheating, liquid pipe subcooling, input power, and cooling capacity changes are also very obvious.
When the system refrigerant is at 65-125% of the normal charge, the suction pressure, return pipe overheating, changes are not obvious, input power changes are slightly noticeable, liquid pipe subcooling changes are very obvious, and the change in cooling capacity is not very noticeable.
When the system refrigerant exceeds 125% of the normal charge, the suction pressure, return pipe overheating, changes are not obvious, input power and discharge pressure changes are more noticeable, liquid pipe subcooling changes are very obvious, and the change in cooling capacity is not very noticeable.
