What methods are there for charging refrigerant?

Refrigerant is the medium used for cooling operations in machines and equipment such as air conditioners. If the refrigerant leaks or is insufficient, the cooling effect will be greatly reduced. At this point, it is necessary to recharge the refrigerant into the device. So how is the refrigerant recharged? There are four common methods:
1. Quantitative Charging Method: Use a dedicated refrigerant quantitative charger to charge the refrigerant according to the required refrigerant model and injection amount. Connect the refrigerant quantitative charger to the refrigerant circulation system, open the corresponding valve, and let the refrigerant from the cylinder flow into the measuring cylinder. After vacuuming the refrigerant circulation system, open the valve of the quantitative charger, and the refrigerant in the measuring cylinder will enter the system.
2. Weighing Charging Method: Tilt the refrigerant cylinder upside down on a small scale's tray, connect it through a drying filter, liquid filling pipe, and three-way valve. Before connecting, use the refrigerant to expel the air in the connecting pipe. After weighing the refrigerant cylinder, subtract the amount of refrigerant to be charged, adjust the position of the weight, then open the three-way valve and the valve of the refrigerant cylinder, allowing the refrigerant to flow slowly into the refrigerant circulation system. When the scale's beam rises to balance, immediately close the three-way valve.
3. Gauge Pressure Charging Method: Control the low-pressure suction pressure of the refrigerant circulation system to determine the charging amount. Connect the upright refrigerant cylinder through a drying filter and connecting pipe to the three-way valve. After opening the three-way valve, the refrigerant gas can enter the refrigerant circulation system using vacuum. When the pressure gauge on the three-way valve rises to 0.45MPa (the air conditioner should rise to 0.5-0.6MPa), close the three-way valve, power on to let the compressor run. When the vacuum gauge pressure drops to zero, open the three-way valve again, adjust the pressure to 0.02-0.05MPa, and let the compressor run for a while until the suction pressure stabilizes and the pressure gauge reads 1.6-2.0MPa, at which point the refrigerant charging can be stopped.
4. Empirical Charging Method: Charge the refrigerant until the vacuum gauge pressure is around 0.2-0.25MPa (for air conditioners, it is 0.3-0.4MPa). Close the three-way valve, power on to run the compressor for 30 minutes, and observe the operation of the cooling system. If the evaporator is fully frosted, the condenser is hot, and the low-pressure suction pipe is cool, it indicates that the amount of refrigerant charged is appropriate. The empirical method can be used in conjunction with the gauge pressure method and the weighing method.
